Dress up Together for a Halloween Date

If you think Halloween is just fun for kids, think again! With plenty of your adult friends throwing and attending parties (especially since the holiday falls on a Friday this year), Halloween can make for a great date night. A couples costume is an excellent and effective way for you and your date to reconnect and put a little zing back into the relationship. Use these tips to coordinate and you’ll find a great time ahead of you this All Hallows' Eve. Princess and Prince Every woman loves an excuse to wear a pretty dress, and this will give both you and your partner a chance to dress up and look great while exhibiting a themed costume idea. - Princess: As the princess, you'll want to visit the fabric section of the store and pick up a few flashy additions such as fake pearls, sequins and feathers to sew onto a regular long dress. A pretty princess wand and tiara from the toy section are a necessity to complete the princess look. Glamorous makeup that would make your kitschy Aunt Selma proud is all too appropriate. If you’re afraid of colder weather in your area, wear a pair of tights or sweatpants under your long princess dress and others will be none the wiser.
- Prince: Sweep your princess off her feet in a handsome suit. We're not talking about the ensemble you wear every day to work, however. Borrow the orange plaid suit your dad wore to prom and you'll be right on track. If you lack the hand-me-down prom suit, find a funky alternative at the local thrift store for cheap. Follow your gal over to the toy section and pick up a plastic crown to complete the look. If you can't find a crown that fits, make one out of construction paper and add flashy stickers. Make sure your shoes are polished like mirrors. You’ll feel like true royalty with the look your princess gives you as she sees her charmer all made up to go out for a night of fun.
Cheerleader and Football Player - Cheerleader: With a cute skirt and a fitted T-shirt, you can sis-boom-become a cheerleader in no time. Grab some solid patterns from the fabric section to cut into triangle shapes. Attach the triangles to a white skirt for a cheerleader outfit your date won't be able to rah-rah-rah resist! Pull your hair back in ponytails and curl for an oh-so-cute bop. The final touch? Get over to the toy section for a pair of peppy pom-poms to really get you in the spirit! Simple white socks and sneakers will complete the look and have you feeling cute — and extremely comfortable — all night long.
- Football Player: Pick up your favorite jersey and high school game ball and you’re halfway there. You can get away with wearing jeans and sneakers so this outfit is as easy as a chip-shot field goal. Make sure your jersey is a couple sizes too big so you can fold up a few extra T-shirts underneath to stuff over your shoulders. This will give you the look of having those game-ready shoulder pads; and as a bonus, will make you one imposing brute. A little face paint under the eyes (black streaks for that anti-glare look) creates a mean linebacker stare. With your best cheerleader by your side, you'll surely be on the winning team.
Cowboy and Cowgirl - Cowboy: Show off your country pride by dressing in jeans, a flannel shirt and a big dawg-gone belt buckle that can be seen from across the room. Toss on a 10-gallon hat and you'll never be confused with a greenhorn! Remember, the most important part of your cowboy Halloween costume is your good-old boy attitude; so don't forget a pair of cowboy boots for boot-scoot boogying down on the dance floor.
- Cowgirl: Yee-Haw! No one has more fun at a party than a cowgirl. Tight jeans, cowboy boots and a cute flannel over a white tank top will have you feeling as good as you look. Tying the flannel around your waist can add a hint of sexy to your already attractive outfit. When you do your hair, make sure it will look good under an adorable cowboy hat. Consider matching hats with your cowboy to ride into the party looking like the couple of the year.
Matching Costumes There is no requirement for only one of you to be a football player. Any costume idea can be changed up so you can both wear your own version. Keep your sense of style while keeping your budget in check by having similar outfits. You can have just as much fun as a team of pirates (don’t forget the eye patch!) instead of a pirate and a princess. Get extra gauze and go out on Halloween as two mummies instead of a mummy and a monster. The key for Halloween fun is choosing a couples costume idea that makes you both comfortable and inspired.
