With these easy-care plants, you get the best of both worlds. They are low-maintenance, requiring little time investment from you, and inexpensive, so they are easy on your wallet as well.

Sedum Autumn Joy
Butterflies love this flower, which grows well in all types of soil and accepts full sun or partial shade. It starts blooming in mid-summer, growing pinker through the season until it turns a rusty-red color in the fall. It’s particularly great as a dried flower.

Purple Dome New England Aster
This plant grows plenty of dark-green foliage and features a striking flower with a bright fuchsia center ringed by brilliant blue-violet petals. It blooms from mid-August through early October and will grow well in average soil in either full or afternoon sun.

Black-Eyed Susan
Birds love this beautiful flower, whose warm gold petals ring a dark black center. It grows in almost any soil up to 3 feet tall and thrives in full sun. It blooms continuously from August through October and is extremely forgiving of neglect.

Moonbeam Coreopsis
This is a great choice because it is mildew-resistant, so if damp weather is a factor where you live, this plant is the way to go. It blooms from June through October with light-yellow flowers. While it needs well-drained soil, it grows well in full sun and is drought-resistant.

Liatris / Gayfeather / Blazing Star
This beautiful flower blooms with purple-pink or white blossoms from early to mid-summer through fall. It is extremely sturdy and thrives in full sun. It’s also a lovely cutting flower.

Blanket Flower
Exceptionally easy to grow, this plant has lovely yellow daisy-like flowers with plum-colored centers. It blooms from May through September. It is extremely hardy, salt-tolerant and drought-tolerant. It thrives well in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. It is a fantastic, long-lasting cut flower with a vase life of anywhere from six to 10 days.
