Indoor Halftime Games

Indoor Halftime Games

Let’s face it: No matter how excited your little ones are leading up to the big game, they’ll more than likely become a little restless by the time halftime rolls around. Create your own family-friendly halftime show by incorporating these fun activities. Not only are they easy, they’ll fall well within your entertaining budget.

Face Painting

Get everyone into the spirit by setting up a couple of face-painting stations during halftime. Kids can line up to be adorned with miniature footballs, helmets or quarterback-inspired under-eye paint. Be sure to select non-toxic, washable paint that’s designed for use on the skin. Keep handheld mirrors handy so kids can check out the end result.

Football Charades

This age-old activity is fun for everyone and won’t cost a dime. Create teams among party guests and assign each team certain words, such as cheerleader, touchdown or fumble. One person from each team will act out the words while the other teammates call out guesses. Whoever gets the most correctly wins.

Football Coloring Contest

What kid doesn’t love to color? Before the game, print out some football-themed coloring pages. At halftime, pass them out to all the kids, along with plenty of crayons in the team colors, and let them demonstrate their artistic abilities.

City / Team Matching

Test your guests’ football knowledge with this fun trivia game. Before the game, cut paper into strips. On some strips, print out the names of cities, and on others, the names of teams. During halftime, task guests with matching up the cities with the correct teams. Whoever has the most matches by the end of halftime is the winner.

Cheerleading Competition

Girls and boys alike can participate in this spirited game. Divide the kids up into teams, and have each team choreograph and perform their own halftime cheerleading routine. Optionally, you can have the kids make their own crepe-paper pom-poms before the halftime show.

Football Cake

Along the same lines as the cookies, prepare the actual cake in advance of the game so it’s nice and cool by halftime. Let the kids use frosting and cake toppers to turn the cake into an action-packed playing field, complete with goal posts, players and yard markers.

Many of these activities will help keep kids occupied well into the fourth quarter. By incorporating these fun halftime ideas, you’ll ensure that guests of all ages will be bowled over by the spirit and creativity of your football party.
