Part of hosting a successful party is keeping your guests engaged and entertained. These unique and fun activities for all ages will help keep the party hopping.
Plan for Fun
Choose fun games based on the guests’ ages, the party theme and the location. Don’t over-schedule your guests. Just one or two activities will get them talking to each other and help keep them in the party mood.
- Start things off with an icebreaker. Pick something low-key that gets everyone in the mood to have some fun.
- If you have a guest of honor, make them the center of attention. Pick activities that take into account their interests or abilities.
- Have a book for guests to sign. Ask them to write down a funny story or a favorite memory of the honoree. You can also have your party guests sign around the border of a super-sized poster of the guest of honor.
- Set up a photo area with a theme-related backdrop or props. Then, your guests can pose for photos with each other and the honoree. This is a must-have activity for any party — it gives you lots of room to be creative.
Break the Ice
Want a fun icebreaker? Have your guests write interesting sentences on cards. Give the cards to the honoree, and have them start the game by whispering the sentence to the person seated next to them. One by one, each person passes on the sentence they hear to the next person. The last person to get the message says it out loud, and then the guest of honor reads the original sentence. It’s usually very different, and very funny!
Keep the game going as long as it’s fun. This is a great way to avoid awkward small talk for people who don’t know each other yet, and guests of all ages can play this one.
Get Them Moving
Will your party be outside? This game will help get people up and moving. Plus, it’ll get adults interacting with kids. Blow up a balloon and bounce it around the party. The goal is to keep the balloon from hitting the ground. Make the game more exciting by introducing more and more balloons.
Play a Game
Get the guests talking to each other by playing the “Who Am I?” game. Write the name of famous people on name tags, and put one on each guest’s back. Give age-appropriate assignments to the kids. Let guests read each other’s stickers, and then ask questions to help figure it out. Guests win the game by being the first to guess who they are. Continue until everyone has figured out their identity. Guests can even get additional stickers and keep playing.
You don’t need a lot of activities to show your guests a great time. All you need is an upbeat vibe for a happy guest of honor and few fun activities to keep the guests entertained.
