Create Your Own Cafeteria

Create your very own High School Musical cafeteria-style party buffet. It’s fun, festive and sure to be a favorite.

Meal Tickets

Remember the old-fashioned meal tickets? Make invitations more meaningful by including meal tickets that are good for a buffet-style lunch plus special party prizes throughout the day.

Bulletin Board

Showcase special announcements, fun facts and other accomplishments on a brightly colored bulletin board. A plain cork board or painted chalk board provides enough space to place all the important news of the day for everyone to read while waiting in the long lunch line.

The Lunch Line

Mini pizzas, Sloppy Joes with fries or tater tots, cartons of OJ and gelatin cups are just a few of the delicious dishes to be found on the infamous lunch line. Don't forget the healthy alternatives, including mini-sub sandwiches turkey ham and low fat cheese, salads and chicken fajita-style wraps with fresh vegetables. Allow everyone to select their favorite by providing plastic trays that resemble lunch trays with conveniently wrapped napkins and sporks. Keep small bags of chips and popcorn, corndogs and fresh apples available for seconds. Ask your trusty chaperone to double as the lunch lady, and don’t forget to set up large waste cans for kids to clean up their own table when the day is done!

Show Your Spirit

School spirit never goes out of style, so create your own dynamic decorations using pom-poms, megaphones and big banners for a custom look that reflects your local flair. Use felt to make your very own pennants, or cardboard for big, bold posters. Add foam footballs, bouncing basketballs and other high school memorabilia to complete the look.

Staffing the Cafeteria

Recruit all the chaperons and adults into the fun. In addition to the lunch lady, dress Dad in his best suit to play the role of principal, make mom the Drama teacher and let big brother play the role of coach. Other fun ideas include the librarian and the faithful custodian. With the High School Musical Trivia & Quiz Book, the Drama teacher can quiz the students on how much they remember from their favorite movies.

Sign the Yearbook

Signing yearbooks was serious business during lunch; see who can collect the most signatures or the nicest compliments when you hand out fun Disney High School Musical: East High Yearbooks that celebrate the big event. In addition, allow everyone to commemorate it with his or her very own special thought. Not only does it help break the ice and get the party moving in the right direction, but it makes a very special keepsake for years to come. Don’t forget to take plenty of photos to share with everyone.

Update the PA

The lunchroom will be complete with a little music in the background. Fortunately, you already have the perfect High School Musical soundtrack, so it’s simple to add a few speakers to any setting. If they crackle and hiss, consider it a big plus for authentic high school cafeteria sound.

Hall of Fame

Proudly display the accomplishments of the best, brightest and most popular by setting up the Hall of Fame on your very own center stage. Use red carpet, butcher paper or fabric for the flooring and hang glittering gold-painted cardboard stars. Award a variety of ribbons, trophies and the ever-popular certificate of accomplishment as part of the party fun and favors. Meanwhile, the stage is set for the perfect place to hold the dance contest and musical chairs competition later in the day.
