Make Your Own Tiaras, Wands & Necklaces

Planning the perfect party activity for your princess doesn’t have to mean breaking the bank — or running all over town. With a few smartly-selected supplies and some ingenuity, you’ll be ready to show your princess and her guests how to craft tiaras, wands and necklace pendants fit for the royal court.

The Right Supplies

You may already have most of these supplies on hand. For anything you don’t have around the house, a quick, one-stop shopping trip should take care of the rest. To make the princess tiara, pendant and wand, you will need:

  • Sheets of foam
  • Gem stickers
  • Scissors (for you), safety scissors (for kids)
  • Straws
  • Ribbon
  • Glue or glue stick
  • Glitter
  • Pencils
  • Stapler
  • Paper punch

Make sure to get enough supplies for all the guests.

Creating the Crown

Every princess needs a tiara, so start by assembling the supplies: sheets of foam, gem stickers, glue and glitter. Before the party, create a cardboard tiara template. Trace and cut out the tiaras from a sheet of foam. Have each princess take a foam tiara and write her name inside before starting — you don’t want any princesses in tears later as they try to find which tiara is theirs! Next, have the girls apply the gem stickers. The final touch is to lightly apply a layer of glue and generously dust with glitter. While the tiaras are drying, you can have them move onto another activity or a scavenger hunt, and in no time the tiaras will be dry and the princesses can wear them. They will look like royalty while making their princess pendants and magic wands!

Disney Princess Pendants

Get out the cardboard, pencil, gem stickers, glue, glitter, scissors, safety scissors, ribbon and paper punch. Take the cardboard and draw the princesses’ favorite shapes on it — round, oval, diamond, heart shape — or anything else they fancy. Then cut the pendants out. Use a paper punch to make a hole at the top center of each pendant to thread the ribbon through later. Let the princesses decorate the pendants with gem stickers, then glue and glitter. Allow the pendant to dry. Finally, thread a piece of ribbon through each pendant’s hole. To wear, just lightly tie the ribbon in back so that it can be detached easily.

Making a Magic Wand

Gather the scissors, safety scissors, straws, ribbon, glue or glue stick, glitter, cardboard and stapler. Have the girls take a piece of cardboard, draw a star on it and cut it out. Next, the princesses can put some glue on the star and then sprinkle glitter all over it. Let the star dry. Using the straw as a guide, cut the ribbon the same length as the straw. When the star is dry, place everything in this order: star, with ribbon behind it, then straw behind the ribbon — and staple the star and ribbon to the straw. Let the magic begin!
